The squad regularly receives fitness training as well as inputs about diet and nutrition.
Each month the fitness levels of the squad are monitored using the multistage fitness test (also known as the 'bleep test').
This is now established as the most reliable and easy to use fitness test and is used in schools and clubs to determine fitness levels, as well as by the emergency services and armed forces. Players run between two markers placed 20 metres apart, while the bleep intervals become progressively shorter, moving through various levels.
The higher the score, the fitter the player.
